Hey do you want to join me in an easy challenge?
I decided to start the year 2018 off right by getting rid of 18 things. Or the way I say it to make me feel better, re-homing 18 things.
Clutter is stressful! Do you really need all that stuff?
C’mon, you know you got yourself some new stuff when you were out there shopping for gifts last month. I always have to buy myself some presents, too. My favorite is a cute, new purse. So now I have to get rid of, ummm I mean, re-home one purse to make room for the new one.
Look, I found 2 that I don’t really use!
These are too small for my current monstrosity of a cell phone, but I bet someone else will be able to use them.
It only took me about 30 minutes to go through my closet and some drawers to come up with 18 things I really don’t need or use.
Maybe next week I’ll do another 18 things out of my office. Now that room is a mess!!! I really won’t have room for all that stuff when we downsize.
5 tips to make it easier:
If you don’t have much time, choose just one category, like office supplies, kitchen items, or t-shirts, or jewelry. Makeup is another good one. How about tools? How many hammers do you really need?
Another way is to choose one area, like I did with my closet, or you could choose a drawer, or your desk. Or here’s a good one, a box of photos. I probably have at least 18 pictures of sunsets from who knows where that can go! Okay, make that 50…
Set the timer for 18 minutes and see how much you can come up with in that time.
Have a box or other container ready to put the stuff in. I used a big laundry basket.
Have a place to take them that is easy. There’s a thrift shop near me that uses all profits to support local no-kill animal shelters. My donations go for a good cause which makes it easier to give them up.
Let me know how it goes in the comments. I would love to see your pictures!
